1950 Chevy 6 Cylinder Engine 216.5 Cubic Inch - 90 Horse Power Equipped With 3 Speed Standard Transmission Specifications: Inline six cylinder, overhead valve, cast iron block, displacement - 116.5 cubic inch, bore and stroke 3-1/2 X 3 3/4 inches, compression ratio 6.5:1, 90 horsepower, four main bearings and solid valve lifters. Carburetor was the reliable Rochester one-barrel model 7002050 B or BC type (C indicating automatic choke). 4.11:1 gear ratio, torque tube drive with tubular propeller shaft, fully enclosed. 1950 Chevrolet cars were equipped with 3 speed standard 1950 Chevy transmission.
1950 Chevy 6 Cylinder Engine 235 Cubic Inch - 105 Horse Power Equipped With 2-Speed Powerglide Transmission Specifications: 1950 Chevy engine - Inline six cylinder, overhead valve, cast iron block, displacement - 235 cubic inch, bore and stroke 3-9/16 X 3-15/16 inches, compression ratio 7.1:1, 105 horsepower, four main bearings, solid valve lifters and larger intake values. This engine was a modified Chevrolet truck engine. The new Powerglide transmission allowed faster getaway and greater passing ability with the Power-Jet carburetor. Some cars also had the Stromberg BXVD-2 or BXXD-35 carburetors. A slightly lower 3.55:1 rear axle gear ratio was used on Powerglide equipped models.
