In 1949 and 1950 Chevy offered a Sport Coupe as a Styleline Special and Styleline Deluxe. This 1950 Chevrolet car was a distinct body different from the Chevy 2 door sedan, similar to the 1950 Chevy Business Coupe.

A 2 door 1950 Chevy sedan is usually made with a 4 door sedan roof panel and seating package. Only the number and size of the doors distinguished the two.

These Styleline Special and Styleline Deluxe Sport Coupes had a shorter cabin area and a longer rear deck. Many of these cars were used by traveling salesmen that wanted a back seats for carrying children.

Note the different trim or lack of trim on the cars above and below. The 1950 Chevy Deluxe Sport Coupe below had stainless trim along the front fender, Deluxe script on the front fender and stainless gravel guards on the rear fenders.

Two 1950 Chevy car bodies passing through the paint booth (See Below) show the difference between the Sport Coupe and two-door sedan bodies. The longer deck and shorter roof of the car on the left is a good indication it's a Sport Coupe.

The Model number for the 1950 Chevrolet Coupe is 1524 and body style number is 50-1227. Styleline Deluxe Sport Coupe model number is 2124 with a body number of 50-1027. Cost of the Styleline Special Sport Coupe was $1408.00 with a production number of 28,328. The Styleline Deluxe Sport Coupe cost was slightly more at $1498.00. Production figures were at 81,536.

Many cars of the mid-1950s that were called Sport Coupes often turned out to be 2 door sedans with sportier trim packages on mid-priced cars. The 1955, 1956 and 1957 Chevrolet Delray Sport Coupe is a good example.
